The cathedral of La Sagrada Familia is the greatest sight in Barcelona and one of the most extraordinary conceptions in the world of Western architecture. It is huge, fantastic and virtually indescribable; the dream of an architect whose imagination ran wild. Spanish architect Antonio Gaudi began working on the cathedral in 1883 when he was 31 years old. He designed every piece of stonework, ornamental mosaic, and sculpture. Indeed, what began for Gaudi as an architectural commission became a lifelong obsession, a devotion blending religious observance and art into an all-consuming passion. So concerned with the day-to-day details of the project, Gaudi actually slept on the construction site. Although we don't make a habit of sleeping at our place of business as Gaudi did, we do bring a passion and dedication to every project that we undertake and we never let up until the job is done and we've gotten it right. |
